Shortlist for 5thGlobe Media Excellence Awards Mindanao

Globe Telecom has announced the roster of
shortlisted entries for the 2016 Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA) in
Mindanao. Eighty-nine (89) shortlisted entries were chosen from a total of 444
entries submitted by print, online and broadcast journalists, columnists,
bloggers, and social media influencers from Cagayan de Oro, Davao, General
Santos, and Zamboanga.
Now on its 5thyear, the GMEA continues to recognizeexcellence in journalism exemplified by
members of the print, broadcast, online, and social media in Visayas and
Mindanao. Globe first launched GMEA in Cebu and Davao in 2012 as part of its
advocacy in supporting press freedom by honoring media practitioners who
demonstrate excellence and professionalism in their field of work.
All submitted entries touched on any or a combination of the four (4)
Sustainability Focus Areas: care for the environment, innate care for our
people, positive societal impact, and digital nation.
This year's GMEA is anchored on the company’s
commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as part of its
advocacy to help create a Wonderful Philippines. “The critical role of media
organizations and online communities in forming and shaping public opinion
makes it imperative for technology organizations like Globe to encourage
excellence in this field as we all aspire to effect societal change,"
Globe Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications Yoly Crisanto said.
Various awards are at stake for different
media practitioners. For print media, recognition shall be conferred to the
reporter of the year for print, explanatory/investigative story of the year for
print, columnist of the year, and photojournalist of the year. For broadcast
media, awards will be given to the reporter of the year for radio, public
affairs story of the year for radio, reporter of the year for television, and
explanatory/investigative story of the year for television. Finally, for
digital media, honors shall be granted to the blogger of the year, social media
campaign of the year, social media advocate of the year, and the reporter of
the year for online news portal.

I hope this would enlighten media practitioners and social media influencers about the Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA) and hopefully, encourage more to participate in the future.
Globe Media Excellence Awards 2016 Mindanao Leg was held last November 22, 2016 at the Marco Polo Hotel, Davao City.
The media practitioners and social media influencers from Zamboanga, Davao, Cagayan De Oro and General Santos are recognized for the GMEA 2016 Mindanao Leg.
GMEA has been in existence for 5 years. For the print, television and radio, Zamboanga City has participated since 2015 and for social media, Zamboanga City was invited this year.
Ms. Yolanda Crisanto, APR, the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications Group of Globe Telecom welcomed and inspired the participants and guests as well as thanked everyone who participated especially, the judges and screeners and congratulated and further challenged the awardees for the responsibility that goes with the GMEA.

UJ and I are the ONLY finalists from Zamboanga City this year... and both of us belong to the Social Media category.
BUT, being part of the GMEA 2016 SHORTLIST (89 out of 444 entries for 12 categories) is an

the whole CMZ workforce) since this institution has given me so many reasons to #ShareYourStory (actually share my story), with all the innovative initiatives CMZ comes up with regularly, especially, the CMZ
B.R.A. Campaign Project plus the CMZ S.T.E.P.H. and so many other activities for patients and employees alike! As we
continue to serve, there will be more and more tales to tell.

writing until 2011 when Charm Dalguntas, CMZ FO and Juvee Calica, CMZ HR urged
me to start blogging... with all hesitation! Now, the rest is history.

Barangay Labuan invited the CMZ Breast Wellness Center for the ALL-IN-ONE Barangay LABUAN Outreach Program with CMZ giving free breast screening through Clinical Breast Examination.
Barangay Labuan is a coastal Barangay 36 kilometers west of the commercial center of Zamboanga City. The place was used to be occupied only by the Subanen tribe, the “lumad” in Western Mindanao. Labuan’s name was taken from the Subanen word which meant “you fall there”.
Aside from the Subanens, indigenous people like the Tausugs, Samals and Chavacano also settled in Labauan. Intermarriage among these indigenous people encouraged them to stay permanently in this Barangay.

Barangay Labuan (Red Point) is a coastal barangay 36 kilometers West of the commercial center of Zamboanga City. After Labuan is Barangay Limpapa and after this is Sibuco, Zamboanga Del Norte.

2016, the CMZ Breast Wellness Center joined the Zamboanga City Medical Society for
