After 13 years, the Embassy of Denmark has announced to re-open the Danish Embassy in Manila. 

Denmark to Re-Open its Embassy in the Philippines

17 January 2014- The Government of the Kingdom of Denmark has announced from Copenhagen its plan to re-open the Danish Embassy in Manila this August which previously ceased its operations in 2002. Denmark will open three other embassies as part of the larger restructuring program of the Danish Foreign Service.

This message was relayed yesterday by Ambassador Nicolai Ruge, Denmark’s non-resident Ambassador to the Philippines based in Kuala Lumpur, to Department of Foreign Affairs’ Assistant Secretary for European Affairs Maria Zeneida Angara Collinson.

The re-opening of the Danish Embassy provides recognition of the vast potential for bilateral cooperation in many fields between the Philippines and Denmark.

Established in 1946, Philippines-Denmark bilateral relations are very cordial and enjoy strong relations in the maritime sector. Over 5,000 Filipino seafarers work on board Danish- managed, -operated or -owned vessels. There are over 10,500 Filipinos based in Denmark with most of them working as au pairs or in the service industry. Bilateral trade with Denmark in 2012 registered at US$107 million.

A very interesting invitation came Ciudad Medical Zamboanga's way last January 2015. We are actually happy that CMZ is among the invited companies throughout the Philippines to attend the Danish Trade Mission.

So, I attended this Danish Trade Mission and Networking Lunch and did get to meet several interesting people. The most interesting person I met is the wife of the Danish Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Kiew who is a Neurologist by profession.
