PHILIPPINE QUALITY AWARD (BALDRIGE) VS. ISO?

Organizations who are involved with Quality Management and Performance Excellence respect all Criteria, Certifications and Awards that help the institution achieve their goals.

Here is a list of Global Quality Awards and for the Philippines, the Philippine Quality Award is recognized as the national award program (highest) that recognizes achievements of public and private sector organizations in their journey towards performance excellence.

The Philippine Quality Award is based on the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria, which is used in the US, and also the basis for most of the Global Quality Awards. While the PQA is given by the Philippine President, the Baldrige Award is also conferred by the US President.
Other organizations go to certifications because it is a requirement from their mandate while others do so for their own quality journey.

However, some organizations are confused with what framework to utilize and in fact, are trying to pit PQA (based on Baldrige) vs. ISO 9000!

Some say... ISO is international while PQA is just local!
Others say, ISO accreditation may not necessarily mean you can attain the Philippine Quality Award!
Many stories from people who favor one over the other!

These are copy - paste images which I gathered for better understanding between the two. These may serve as references but there are actually books written on these topics.
Note: The violet highlight also gives the link when clicked...

How does the Balridge Award differ from ISO 9000?

Summary of Key Points

Differences and Similarities of ISO and Baldrige

I do hope that this gives you more insights on the differences and similarities of ISO and PQA (Baldrige). These two should not be pitted against each other!

In fact, many of the ISO assessors are also PQA assessors.

Most of the PQA Awardees already are ISO Certified and in their journey to Performance Excellence, their next step is the PQA.

I do hope that with this understanding, you may appreciate that ISO and PQA are different and actually complementary AND directed to the same objective of Quality and PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE.

Why not, ISO and PQA, instead of ISO vs. PQA!!!

A challenge to those who are already ISO certified, we encourage you to proceed with the journey towards Performance Excellence and go for the Philippine Quality Award!

CMZ B.R.A. Flash Mob 2014

March 21, 2014 marked the UNVEILING of the CIUDAD DE ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment) INSTALLATION ART!

To create a festive mood for the upcoming activities, the CMZ B.R.A. (Bra to Raise Awareness) Flash Mob surprised everyone in the hospital with a very dynamic and energetic dance!
The CMZ B.R.A. Flash Mob presented twice:
*   First, at 10 a.m. to inform everyone that we had two activities lined up! ... plus the food stalls, one of which is manned by the Mindanao Breast Cancer Support and Empowerment Association.

** Second, at 5 p.m. to open the highlight activity:
UNVEILING of the CIUDAD DE ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment) INSTALLATION ART!

Here are some video clips (forgive the amateur video via iPad Air!) for you to feel the energy exuded by the CMZ staff!

The Ciudad Medical Zamboanga staff danced their way to excite and announce to the folks on the CMZ Bra to Raise Awareness Campaign culmination this March 21,2014.

There are Flash Mobbers in all four floors of the hospital and eventually gather at the first floor center aisle.

This is the second run of the CMZ B.R.A. Flash Mobbers, still at all four levels, where they are watched by staff, patients and relatives and friends such as from JSOTF-P (Balikatan to many of us) friends.

Eventually, they all gathered at the front parking lot to open the UNVEILING CEREMONY of the CIUDAD de ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness) INSTALLATION ART!

If you notice the Flash Mob is already by the road!
Isn't everyone surprised by the ongoing activities?

I am sure the Flash Mob shook Zamboanga City and was more than enough for everyone to take notice of our highlight activity!

AND, this is also our way of celebrating the 16th cycle Philippine Quality Award Conferment of Ciudad Medical Zamboanga (Zamboanga Polymedic Hospital Inc.) for Recognition to Commitment to Quality Management by no less than Pres. Benigno Aquino III at the Rizal Hall, Malacañan Palace, a day before!!!

We are amazed by the spirit of our CMZ staff and especially, the nurse trainees who shared their time, talent and energy to liven up this milestone in CMZ history! Another venue for them to showcase their creative "juices" to quote a fellow BC Blogger, Marie!

We still believe the Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art is the largest bra art made of individual bras to be displayed whether here in the Philippines or abroad.

We hope you enjoyed the videoclips as much as we did during the affair!
