CMZ B.R.A. CAMPAIGN PROJECT 2014

Ciudad Medical Zamboanga just initiated the B.R.A. PROJECT last January 17, 2014 within the hospital to start off with the B.R.A. Drop Box Decorating Contest among the CMZ staff.

This is just the beginning phase of our three phase project!

Phase 1: B.R.A. Drop Box Decorating Contest
Phase 2a: B.R.A. Collecting Contest within CMZ
Phase 2b: B.R.A. Collecting Contest among partner institutions in Zamboanga City
Phase 3: B.R.A. Installation Art

Do you know what B.R.A. Means?

Yes, it means Bra to Raise Awareness, which is CMZ's campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness!

Breast Wellness is CMZ's flagship Corporate Social Responsibility Program thus the creation of the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga Breast Wellness Center under the helm of Breast Advocate, Dr. Marissa Lim last March 20, 2012.

We usually have our milestone projects every October together with the Breast Cancer Awareness month but with the Zamboanga Siege 2013 last September plus the flooding in Zamboanga City last October followed by the Bohol and Cebu Earthquake plus Typhoon Yolanda in November, we held this B.R.A. Project for a while.

We rekindled Phase 1 of this campaign this third week of January which is part of the National Cancer Consciousness Week. The launching of Phase 2 is on February 4, which is World Cancer Day and for Phase 3, March 20 which is the Second Anniversary of the CMZ Breast Wellness Clinic and in time with the International Women's Month.

Watch out for these DATES!!!!!

CMZ BELEN MAKING CONTEST 2013

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE!
Amidst the commercialization of Christmas, let us look back into one of the most meaningful symbols of Christmas... the CHRISTMAS CRIB... or the Nativity Scene or the Filipinos' BELEN... as this symbolizes Jesus' birth!
In today's gospel, the BELEN is the symbol of CONVERGENCE... of the rich and poor... of the powerful and powerless... the old and the young... the ancient and the modern... and CONVERGENCE OF THE FAMILY!
I look back to 2013 on my story about the different BELENS created by the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga workforce as the symbol of this CONVERGENCE!
Ciudad Medical Zamboanga celebrated Christmas with a Belen Making Contest 2013!

I just want to share the different expressions of the Belen as created by the CMZ staff using the Dayami as well as native and recycled materials.

Aren't their creations amazing?

We are so happy that this contest instills friendly competition, unity and most of all their artistic talent and innovation!

THE HONORABLE BOARD OF JUDGES WERE:

**RAMEER TAWASIL, the renowned International artist from Zamboanga

**DANTE CORTEZA, media (Daily Zamboanga Times) and consultancy

**MILA ARRIETA, media (Zamboanga Today)

Here are the WINNERS who were awarded during the CMZ Christmas party 2013 at the Astoria Regency Convention Center:

FIRST PRIZE

SECOND PRIZE
THIRD PRIZE

We really praise the talents of our workforce!

We hope that these different expressions of the Christmas Crib will remind us of the real meaning of CHRISTMAS and ignite the spirit of love and unity among everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY JESUS!!!

AND, We look forward for more of your Creative outputs in our future endeavors!!!

ZAMBOANGA CITY HALL THROUGH THE YEARS @ 2000 TO 2013

Zamboanga City Hall is a real historical landmark of Zamboanga City considering that it is already more than a century old.

http://wikitravel.org/en/Zamboanga_City#b
Zamboanga City Hall - The construction of this building started in 1905 and was completed in 1907 by the Federal Government of the United States for the then American Governors of the area which included: Leonard 0. Wood, Tasker H. Bliss, Ralph W. Hoyt, and Gen. John Pershing of World War I fame. Today, this serves as the City Hall of Zamboanga City where the Mayor holds office.

The Zamboanga City Hall is a focal point of the City and more so during the Christmas season

WHY?
...because of the festive air with all the beautiful lights of the City hall itself and also in the adjacent plazas. ...this is another update of these previous links which I thought I should do to complete the comparisons through the years...

Just wanted to capture the perfect moment with less than perfect shots...

The Zamboanga City Hall is now more colorful this Christmas.

2010.
Embellishing the century-old City Hall has improved a lot over the years... the lights are brighter and the colors more varied.

They may have spent more, but I think they also made a lot of people happier -- young and old... from ZC and visitors, too.
2010
There is snow in Zamboanga City!
The lights really attracted everyone...and these white flakes you see are not artifacts/specks of the picture but "snow".

How everyone wanted to see the "snow"!

And young and old alike were just excited about it.
Yippeeee!!! We it here!

The entrance to Plaza Pershing and the gazebo all add up to the Christmas-y air!

And of course, the giant Christmas tree inside!

The Nativity Scene in Plaza Rizal is also as attractive and eye-catching!

A friend commented, that he didn't see this in Cebu that the Zamboanga City Hall area was so beautifully lighted for Christmas.

I posted about our century-old City Hall separately last year with this link:

2012.
I just had a glimpse of the Zamboanga City Hall this year!  They just lighted the ZC City Hall together with the other parks just a few days ago!

Everyone again drives around the area or strolls around, of course, for all the photo opportunities!

2013.
A lot had happened to our beloved City this 2013... a most memorable almost month-long Zamboanga Siege from the fated Sept 9 to the end of September and this was followed by flooding in many parts of Zamboanga City in early October!

Somehow, looking at our Zamboanga City Hall also instills hope on the people. We did not have the mardi gras for the 2013 Fiesta Hermosa, but the lighted City Hall was inspiring.

Here is Zamboanga City Hall for Christmas 2013!
The Belen (Nativity scene) is now in the Center in front of the City Hall.

Yes, the Zamboanga City Hall is less festive and less colorful than in the prior years, but of course, it is fitting with the times.

This is the lighted Plaza Pershing for 2013!
The folks still flock to the area...which was heartwarming.

We continue to be so happy to see Christmas in the air in the heart of our City every year!!!.
