This is another happy side during the Ultramarathon and this is in one community working as one to inspire the runners!!!
Again, 50 kilometers IS 50 kilometers!
It is so inspiring to see the community, especially the Elementary school pupils, not only cheering but waving colorful flags... very representative of the VINTA colors and under the Zamboanga City heat. By the way, they said it was one of the hottest days in Zambaonga City!!!
These photos are shared by Doc Maya and I love these pictures because these give us an idea on the travails of the Ultramarathoners... and marathoners wanna be! Don't put down the efforts of those who tried... joining the marathon in itself is a feat! Here are some of the runners as they run along the route: Garden Orchid Hotel-Guiwan-Putik-Divisoria-Boalan-Culianan-Cabaluay-Lanote and back to Garden Orchid Hotel! So this in the Cabaluay-Tolosa area:

Community heads of Tolosa:
WELCOME TO BARANGAY TOLOSA
What's with the arms... as in "armas"!?!
Pupils of Tolosa Elementary school wave large colorful flags, which appear larger than them.  The very inspiring cheers from the kids definitely boost the runners.

Actually, I'd like to share a happy facet during the Ultramarathon and this is in one water station where my friends were involved in!
Come to think about it -- 50 kilometers IS 50 kilometers!
So it is inspiring to see people cheer inspite all the heat, sweat, pain and weariness.
When Doc Maya requested me to ask Reg to brighten the Water Station at La Tienda at about noontime of February 26, I was wondering if Reg would really do it. I asked Doc Maya the theme and said it was the Vinta
Reg obliged willingly and seems prepared for the event. Together with Jean and Malyn, the three (all from Ciudad Medical Zamboanga!) added color to the Water Station! Thanks to to Chief Leizel, who acted as photographer and daughter Pia, who added life to the day!!!

aren't they prepared for the Vinta Run?!
all set to cheer
Go, Go, Go!!! - from our little cheerer
Here is the water station!
Over here is the WATER STATION!!!

waving to the runners as they arrive!
Here comes the runners.
Surprised!!!...They must be happy to see the cheerers!!!!

Service de luxe. Others stopped and thought it was free tasting or something for sale from La Tienda, but no!... the Gatorade is for the runners!
Love the SMILE = as if he didn't run that far!
Massage as in "Haplas!" from Manang!
Manang does her thing!!!
Pose with the runners. And they have retained their "composure" inspite of the superheat that noon! One of the hottest days, they say!!!
Astig pa rin!
Still smiling... a few more kilometers to go!
Great job!
The ladies also do a great job! (Doc Maya arrives)
This is Kathyrn Kuan (KatZ) who made it 7th as a solo marathon runner and brought pride to the ladies when she arrived 6:21:42 hours at the finish line. She came back to the Water Station just to boost the other runners. Doc Lottie (not in picture since she passed the station at dawn) together with "panggâ", Mark made it to 6th place for the relay finishing with an impressive 7:29:21 hours. Doc Maya also joined the relay and finished 10th together with partner Shiralee Pajarito when they arrived 8:05:49 hours at the finish line.
Way to go Doc Maya...show them how it is to be GOLDEN!!!
This was a SUPER challenging day for the Zamboanga runners and it was a "fun run" for us cheerers here in the La Tienda water station!!! P.S.  from: http://bugobugo85.wordpress.com/2012/01/04/vinta-50k-ultramarathon/ List of the Top 15 solo ultramarathoners
