Eidil Fitri 2015 Proclamation as a holiday

Just want to share with you the official proclamation for the observance of Eidil Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan) as a regular holiday in the Philippines this July 17, 2015.

What is Ramadan?
Ramadan (/ˌræməˈdɑːn/Arabicرمضان‎ RamaḍānIPA: [rɑmɑˈdˤɑːn];[note 1] also transliterated RamazanRamzanRamadhan, or Ramathan) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar,[3] and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief.[4][5] This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.[6] The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon, according to numerous biographical accounts compiled in the hadiths.[7][8]

What is Eidil Fitr?

From Wikipedia:  Eid al-Fitr (Arabicعيد الفطر‎ ʻĪd al-FiṭrIPA: [ʕiːd al fitˤr], "festival of breaking of the fast"), also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, the Sugar FeastBayram (Bajram), the Sweet Festival or Hari Raya Puasa[1] and the Lesser Eid, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting(sawm). The religious Eid is a single day during which Muslims are not permitted to fast. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month of Shawwal. The date for the start of any lunar Hijri month varies based on the observation of new moon by local religious authorities, so the exact day of celebration varies by locality. However, in most countries, it is generally celebrated on the same day as Saudi Arabia.

In the Philippines, Eid al-Fitr, known to the Christian majority and other non-Muslims as "Wakás ng Ramadán" ("End of Ramadan") or incorrectly as "Ramadan", has been recognised by the Philippine Government as a regular holiday by virtue of Republic Act No. 9177 and it is also according to Presidential Proclamation No. 1083, signed into law on 13 November 2002 – the only majority Christian country worldwide to have done so.
The law was enacted in deference to the Filipino Muslim community and to promote peace and harmony among major religions in the country. The first national commemoration of Eid al-Fitr was on 6 December 2002, marked by prayers and feasting.

GREETINGS TO ALL OUR MUSLIM FRIENDS!!!

James and Lucy West Golden Wedding Anniversary 2: LOVE ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART Duet

Please like this Video in You Tube!

This is the second You Tube video I uploaded of James West and this time singing a duet with the love of his life, Luisita Dela Pena West during his Golden Wedding anniversary held at the Astoria Regency Hotel this July 3, 2015 in Zamboanga City.

Reaching a couple's golden anniversary is so precious as not everyone is given the chance to do so!

In James and Lucy's case, they were even able to perform during their 50th Wedding Anniversary together, which is even more awesome!

In the 1950's, Mr. James West, a handsome guy at that, was a 16-week singing champion here in Zamboanga City. They say he was only defeated by Ms. Luisita Dela Pena who caught his eye during the competition.

Story goes is that he fell in love immediately with Ms. Dela Pena, who also comes from a family of singers.
They say he gave way to the lady who caught his eye and his heart...
But, a question popped... "Was she really better?"
You can judge this after you have seen their duet in You Tube singing LOVE ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART (With Every Beat of Your Heart).

Well, that doesn't matter anymore, because they did fall in love and now have three lovely daughters, Janeth, Sandra and Gina, known as the beautiful singing trio in the 80s and 90s here in Zamboanga City as the WEST SISTERS!

Last September 2013, the Zamboanga Siege occurred and unfortunately, both of them, who were already in their 70's were taken hostage by the MNLF! James West, actually had been admitted for a heart condition just before the incident.

Everyone feared for their health! Can they make it through this debacle?
However, they never left each other even at times, when one thought, "Please save yourself!" Even during this near death experience, they sacrificed for each other... and finally, they made it through TOGETHER!

Such a highlight for a love story, right! Just like in the movies!
Not everyone would have the chance for an epic like this!

This Golden Anniversary celebration means so much to them and to all who love them.
It was a wonderful night of throwback stories like a thousand girls for James and none for his friends, just because he had the looks and talent.
And of course, that only Lucy could beat him after a 16-week championship!

And of course, a concert in itself with the couple singing, his old friends as well as the Dela Pena brothers (Lucy's brothers), the West Sisters (their daughters) and Jaico West Paderes (their grandson who is Rico and Sandra's son)... so heartwarming!

Congratulations to James and Lucy West and thank you for being an inspiration to all of us who are witnesses to your love!!!

James and Lucy West Golden Anniversary 1: Cuando Cuando

Please like this Video in You Tube!

This is a You Tube video I uploaded of James West singing "Cuando Cuando" during his Golden Wedding anniversary held at the Astoria Regency Hotel this July 3, 2015 in Zamboanga City.

Not everyone is given the chance to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, more so, given the chance to perform their abilities like singing in James West's case.

But then, in the 1950's he was a 16-week singing champion here in Zamboanga City with the looks to beat, but then only defeated by his beautiful wife, Luisita!

They say he fell in love that's why he lost... to give way to the lady who caught his heart? ... or was she really better! (see in the next blogpost)

But the highlight of their love story happened during the Zamboanga Siege last September 2013, when both of them, who were already in their 70's were taken hostage by the MNLF. James West, actually had been admitted for a heart condition just before the incident.

Can you imagine their plight? They stuck together through the difficulties and near death experience... and made it TOGETHER! ... An epic love affair you can say!

So they indeed deserve this Golden Anniversary celebration to herald their love story through glitz and songs!!!

Congratulations to James and Lucy West and to their three lovely daughters, Janeth, Sandra and Gina, known as the beautiful singing trio, the West Sisters in the 80s and 90s here in Zamboanga City!

3 In 1 Activity Ya Conduci Na Brgy. Lumayang Enconnection Conel Complian...

This is the YOU TUBE video entitled 3 IN 1 ACTIVITY YA CONDUCI NA BARANGAY LUMAYANG ENCONNECTION CONEL COMPLIANO DI KAP FRED ATILANO which I shared from the E-Media website dated March 16, 2015.

This is also connected with an earlier blogpost last May 16, 2015 on the CMZ BRAngay 7: Barangay Lumayang in this same website.
Thank you so much, Kap Fred Atilano for giving us the chance to appreciate Barangay Lumayang.

It was very exciting for the CMZ BRAngay Project Team to go to a barangay located about 16 kilometres from the Zamboanga City Hall, Barangay Lumayang and especially that we have to go up the mountain at the East Coast. But do not be afraid, the road to Lumayang is now concrete!

This was through the invitation of Barangay Captain Frederick Atilano, who is practically part of the CMZ BRAngay family through his frequent coverage of our advocacy.

This is Kap Frederick's pre-birthday celebration gift to the Lumayang community with a Breast Awareness lecture and screening to the women together with feeding and a firing activity for the men. We are more than glad to share our time and knowledge to his community!

Here are photos of the activity!

Aside from the Breast Wellness activities, other patients also took the chance for a check-up!

Visiting Lumayang was an eye-opener for us... that, although, this place is quite far from the City proper, Lumayang is actually very accessible with good concrete roads. It is a beautiful rural barangay  in the east coast and encourages us to appreciate Zamboanga City more as well as the products it offers such as the Lumayang Spiced Vinegar and of course, the fresh fruits!
And we have our Giant BRA from Illinois while sipping the Fresh Bulo from Lumayang!
And Barangay Lumayang is also known for their SPICY VINEGAR (with Kap as model)!

Ciudad Medical Ya Tiene Libre Breast Examination

Here is a You-Tube post entitled "Ciudad Medical Ya Tiene Libre Breast Examination" as reported by Gay Lozada Baylosis and Gino Franco Torres of E-Media and also seen in the eMedia Mo website dated March 20, 2015.

Here is an excerpt of an earlier post on  CMZ BRAngay 8: Urban Poor Women Batch 2 dated May 16, 2015.

Ciudad Medical Zamboanga Breast Wellness Center offered the CMZ BRAngay Project 8 last March 20, 2015 at CMZ Conference Room, with Free Breast Wellness lecture and Free Breast Screening, with Free Ultrasound for those with findings. Most of the participants are Urban Poor Women from Tetuan, Tumaga and Upper Calarian through Hon. Marisa Aizon of Barangay Tetuan who heads the ZC Urban Poor Women segment as well as Tetuan Church catechists and parish leaders, women who heard the E-Media radio announcement and also those invited here in CMZ who come as far as Lanzones.
Free Breast Cancer Awareness lecture was given by Dr. Filipinas Rojo together with Ms. Watchel Buena Tibandal-Basilio and Hanz Angus who demonstrated Breast Self Examination. Dr. Jenivic Romo was present to answer the very interesting questions expressed by the enthusiastic women.

Breast Screeners were nurses and rad techs (assigned in Mammography) and belonging to the Radiology Department of CMZ.

It was attended by the CMZ Execom headed by CMZ President Dr. Joven Monsanto, CEO Atty Jhihann Cimeni Hairun-Natividad, AO Ruby Ann Puzon, HR Manager Juvee Calica and Finance Officer Charm Tamba-Dalguntas. Dr. Joven Monsanto and Atty Jhihann Natividad gave inspirational words.

Also this month is the B.R.A. (Bra to Raise Awareness) ART Exhibit at the CMZ Lobby displaying beautiful bras to inspire women to the Breast Awareness advocacy.

It was a fun and fruitful Breast Awareness activity to celebrate the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga Breast Wellness Center milestone.

Here is Boy Nap Directo's news feature at the Zamboanga Today dated March 25, 2015:

Ciudad Medical Ta Continua El Brangay Actividad Na Brgy. Cabaluay

This is a You-tube file from E-Media entitled "Ciudad Medical Ta Continua El Brangay Actividad Na Brgy. Cabaluay" as reported by GIL Climaco and Kap Frederick Atilano.

This is also found at the E-Media Website dated April 13, 2015 with the same title, Ciudad Medical Ta Continua El Brangay Actividad Na Brgy. Cabaluay

Here is also part of the CMZ BRAngay 9: Barangay Cabaluay posted last May 16, 2015 in this same blogsite.

Last April 13, 2015, the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga Breast Wellness Center visited Cabaluay Health Center through Barangay Captain Mako Apolinario and Health Center midwife, Ms. Fe Luna.

Barangay Cabaluay is about 26 kilometres from Zamboanga City proper and so we were happy to be able to serve one of the farther barangays.

CMZ Breast Wellness Center lectures and demonstrates in the language of our participants and this time in Pilipino and Chavacano.

Thanks to our media partner Boy Nap Directo for our news feature in your column, Oh, No It's Boy, Daily Zamboanga Times dated April 16, 2015.

And thanks too to one of our media partners, E-Media through Kap Frederick Atilano for being there and sharing our Cabaluay activity through the airwaves and TV.

Here are some photos of the activity:
