Just as we were mentioning as one of the challenges about the lack of rooms in ZC hospitals in this time of outbreaks, we are glad that PhilHealth has now responded and advised special privileges for victims of the Acute Gastroenteritis in Zamboanga City.
This is in response to the Executive Order No. BC 174-2016 (An Order Declaring a Gastroenteritis Outbreak in the City of Zamboanga) issued by Mayor Beng Climaco last April 25, 2016 wherein the number of admitted AGE cases in the first quarter of 2016 has reached alert levels in Zamboanga City.
It is now advised that the there will be an exemption from the provisions of PhilHealth Circular No. 2016-001 (Policy Statements on the Diagnosis and Management of Acute Gastroenteritis) which states that the required length of stay (LOS) is 3 days or 72 hours.
Healthcare institutions providing care to these patients afflicted by AGE outbreak may file claims according to the provisions stated in PhilHealth Circular No. 0034, s. 2013 (Guidelines on the Provision of Special Privileges to those affected by a Fortuitous Event).
This is indeed very good news for the patients and for the healthcare institutions.
Indeed a very good news.
