CMZ B.R.A. Campaign Project Activities as of March 16, 2014

So much has happened since the CMZ B.R.A. (Bra to Raise Awareness) Campaign Project started last January 17, 2014 and so much is still happening at this time.
The objective of this Ciudad Medical Zamboanga B.R.A. Campaign Project is in its name: Bra to Raise Awareness to:

This project was conceptualized to address the third Mission of Ciudad Medical Zamboanga (Zamboanga Polymedic Hospital Inc.), which is to pursue Corporate Social Responsibility!

I would like to rundown the activities and its partial results:
Phase 1: B.R.A. Drop Box Decorating Contest
January 17 to February 3, 2014
Activity 1.a. B.R.A. Drop Box Decorating Contest
** 19 of 21 units in the hospital joined the Contest
Activity 1.b. B.R.A. Drop Box Decorating Contest Judging

Phase 2: B.R.A. Collecting Contest
February 5 to March 8, 2014
Activity 2.a. B.R.A. Collecting Contest for CMZ
** 21 of 21 units participated in the collection
** Winners:
First Place: Hemodialysis Unit = 1,604 bras collected
Second Place: Nursing Service Office = 1,315 bras collected
Third Place: Ward Echo = 840 bras collected
Fourth Place: Radiology = 504 bras collected
Fifth Place: Pharmacy = 473 bras collected

Activity 2.b. B.R.A. Collecting Contest for Partners
**Total of 34 partners were given Bra Drop Boxes (target: 19 boxes)
**Winners: to be announced
**Main B.R.A. Partners:
~~~7 schools = = 1 State University; 2 private universities; 3 colleges and 1 high school
~~~7 malls/supermarkets
~~~10 private companies including suppliers like Siemens Philippines and Health Solutions and Banks; although, more friends were joining in even without the B.R.A. boxes and they made boxes themselves.
~~~10 government offices:
=====Sangguniang Panglungsod group with Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde and City Councilor Myra Paz Abubakar requested the B.R.A. Box to be given during the City Council Session last February 12, 2014.

Activity 2.c. B.R.A. Countdown March 8, 2014
**Bras Collected from CMZ: 6727 bras
**Bras Collected from partners: 1664 bras
**Total Bras collected as of  March 8, 2014: 8391 bras
**Since there are still many partners and friends supporting the cause, we are still receiving bras from other parts of the Philippines and the world.
~~~As of March 16, 2014: about 8800 bras and counting

Notable milestones are: 
** bras sent from Netherlands and Singapore
** bras from friends from the U.S. 
** messages of support from UK and Norway
** bras from all over the Philippines: 
~~~~Luzon: Dagupan, Pangasinan; Lipa, Batangas; Bocaue and Bustos, Bulacan; Cavite

~~~~Visayas: Cebu City and Talisay City
~~~~Mindanao: Dipolog City, ZDN;  Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte; Baganga, Davao Oriental; Davao City; Cagayan De Oro City

**Total number of Decorated Bras as of March 12, 2014: 414 decorated bras
~~219 bras from Hemodialysis
~~50 bras from Medical Records
~~27 bras from Radiology
~~10 bras from OR Complex
~~1 from CSR
~~107 bras during A.R.T. Workshop

There are still expected bras to be submitted from the CMZ workforce and from the artist group led by Rameer Tawasil.

HIGHLIGHT ACTIVITIES TO LOOK FORWARD TO:
Activity 3.c. Launching of the B.R.A. A.R.T. Project Exhibit at Lantaka Hotel on March 21, 2014 11 a.m.
From among these bras and the others made, artist Rameer tawasil will choose the best or the most unique among the bras to be displayed in the Lantaka Hotel gallery

Activity 3.d. Creation of the Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment) Public Installation Art by Rameer Tawasil, Sulu-born International Artist and artist-friends from Zamboanga City.
The Concept: Giant Bra and Breast made out of individual bras:
about 14 feet high (including stage); 8 feet wide and 4 feet depth

Since the start of the CMZ B.R.A. Campaign Project, there are three lectures already done and ongoing:

We are hopeful that this Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment) Public Installation Art is indeed one of its kind in the Philippines and probably the world! (Please inform us if this is not so!)

Aside from the main objective of this CMZ B.R.A.Campaign Project which is Bra to Raise Awareness for Breast Wellness, promoting to "Love Your Breasts. Have Them Checked" and "Early Detection and Treatment Save Lives", we are also hopeful that the collaborative activities with Zamboanga City community and our friends from the Philippines and abroad, is exuding positive energy for Zamboanga City as it undergoes the BUILD BACK BETTER ZAMBOANGA program of the City Mayor, Hon. Maria Isabelle "Beng" Climaco-Salazar.

  2. I've heard a sad and bad news from my niece last night. The mother of her boyfriend has been diagnosed with breast cancer - stage 4. We're praying so hard that things will be okay and that the operation will be a success. Prayers can move mountain, so In sha Allah God willing.

  22. You are doing a great job, doc! Thanks for spreading breast cancer awareness. As moms, we often forget to nurture ourselves. It is time we make women conscious that they can go to great leaps and bounds nurturing themselves in order to nurture and care for others
