PHILIPPINE QUALITY AWARD FOR ZPHI (CIUDAD MEDICAL ZAMBOANGA)

The reason I was in hiatus for several months last year (2013) was because Zamboanga Polymedic Hospital Incorporated (the corporation name of Ciudad Medical Zamboanga) applied and prepared for the 16th Cycle of the Philippine Quality Award (PQA).

Just a day ago, we finally received this message!

After all the hard work and sincere preparations, ZPHI (Ciudad Medical Zamboanga) will finally be conferred as one of the five 2013 PQA recipients.

ZPHI (Ciudad Medical Zamboanga) was actually informed last December 2, 2013, that we successfully got PQA Level 1 Award meaning we will receive the PQA Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management.
Because of the President's more pressing concerns, especially related to Typhoon Yolanda and all other calamities that befell on the Philippines, the conferment was moved to March 20, 2014!

The Philippine Quality Award is a Presidential Award comparable to the Malcolm Balrige National Quality Award of the U.S.

I will share what the PQA is about using the PQA brochure file and with this link:
What is the PQA?
This is the PQA Framework
Each of these seven categories are indeed important for attainment of Organizational Performance Excellence, especially Category 7 Results. One of the ZPHI (CMZ) values is Driven by Results.

Who are eligible for application to the PQA?

What are the benefits of applying for the PQA?

What are the PQA Levels of Recognition?

What are the schedules for each cycle of the PQA?

These are the PQA Award Managers to contact if you are interested to ask about the PQA.

There is another award using a simplified PQA criteria for those in the beginnings of their journey to organizational improvement, the Philippine Quality Challenge (PQC)

Initially, we were encouraged to apply for the PQC since we were apprehensive about the PQA application. However, ZPHI (CMZ) has more than a 500-strong workforce, thus, we have to go for PQA.

PQC is open to organizations with less than 100 employees.

This PQA endeavor is indeed a great challenge.
Assess your organization...
Then, think...
"Why don't we apply for the Philippine Quality Award!"

    1. Indeed, Tet! This is one of the greatest challenge that we ever hurdled and the process of the application was indeed helpful for us to understand our corporation better as well as to make sure everyone in the hospital knows what is happening and make sure everyone is involved in all activities!
